			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If you want to stay healthy and fit over 40, then you need to have a  fitness routine that works for you. The best way to do that is to use some solid guidlines to ensuring that you get the best from each of your fitness workouts, and then go out and do them. In this article, I will give you five steps on how to make your exercise routines work for you.</p>
<p>1. Unless you&#8217;re already fit and healthy get a medical and start off gently.</p>
<p>There&#8217;s no point in jumping into a fitness routine if you have some medical condition without consulting your physician or doctor. Because you could make your condition worse without realising it. If you&#8217;re already healthy, but haven&#8217;t done any fitness workouts for a while then you should start gradually, because otherwise you could injure yourself. And then give up completely on the idea of getting fit and healthy</p>
<p>2. Exercise at high intesity.</p>
<p>If you perform your fitness workouts at the level to where your breathing is making you struggle to hold a converstion with someone, but not to the point where you&#8217;re gasping or panting for breath, then your&#8217;re working out at about the right level of intesity. This will make your whole body grow stronger and thereby increase your level of health and fitness.</p>
<p>3. Set a regular weekly schedule for your exercise routines.</p>
<p>The reccomemded frequency to workout is 3-5 sessions per week. However, studies indicate that you could go as low as 2 good fitness workouts per week, and still get and maintain a good level of fitness over 40. Also, the latest studies suggest that short and intense exercise routines are more beneficial than long drawn out workouts.</p>
<p>4. Make exercise a regular part of your weekly and yearly schedule.</p>
<p>It is far more beneficial for you to do two or three short sessions of fitness exercises, fourty to fifty weeks of the year, than jump onto the latest Hollywood fitness routines for a week or so every six months.</p>
<p>5. Find the fitness workouts that suit you.</p>
<p>There&#8217;s no point you using the exercise routines of a marathon runner, if you don&#8217;t intend to enter and run marathons. Nor follow the trainging program of a bodybuilder unless you want to look like a bodybuilder.</p>
<p>If you follow these steps, you&#8217;ll be able to start on your road to fitness over 40 right away!</p>

Many people begin strong, but soon falter and give up the exercise routine entirely. One of the challenges with not having a fitness schedule is you have nothing to make you accountable and little to work toward other than a soft desire.</p>
<p>Think about your work schedule, do you keep a diary system or a to do list? Perhaps you own a PDA and would have difficulties getting through the day without having everything planned. The same applies to having a fitness schedule.  When you write down your schedule to workout, you are more inclined to keep to this workout schedule than if you simply said, &#8220;Tomorrow, I am beginning a fitness regimen.&#8221;<br />When you write or type something, it makes it more concrete, we talk in the book Strength to Strength about the magic that links your pen / keyboard with the mind . For instance, if you schedule a meeting for Tuesday at 10:00AM, you have that block of time scheduled for that meeting and attending it is a done deal as far as you are concerned. You may not want to go to the meeting, you may not even enjoy it once you get there, but you do it, because it&#8217;s scheduled.</p>
<p>Having a fitness schedule keeps you on track and it makes you accountable to you. Let&#8217;s say you schedule Monday, Wednesday, and Friday as your workout day and you schedule the time from 7AM &#8211; 8AM.  Now, if you look at your workout schedule as an important appointment, you are better able to keep to your workout regimen. The time is not important (although we do cover the best time of day to train in our video series), just as long as you keep the appointment.</p>
<p>If you are a list maker, you are more apt to succeed in your everyday life than people that stroll through life without a focus. The same holds true for listing the various aspects of your fitness plan. You might list that you want to do 20 minutes of cardiovascular and 20 minutes of weight training, or you break it into 10-minute segments. The truth is, it does not matter, the most important aspect is to write it down, to actually have a fitness schedule and to stick to it.</p>
<p>Committing something to paper and seeing the written word is more powerful than just having a thought or talking about it.  We&#8217;ve all had times in our lives when we&#8217;ve been told something, but we didn&#8217;t make a note of it by writing it down and we&#8217;ve forgotten it.   Whereas, we all know that making a note of something, prompts us to remember.  Having a written fitness schedule is no different, plus you get the additional benefit of being able to track back and see what progress you are making which is all important in your fitness progression. Today, if you truly want to stick to a fitness regimen then it is time to write it down and create a fitness schedule that is realistic. You will be surprised how much further in your health and fitness improvement goals you get when you have a schedule.</p>

<p>Physical fitness is the ability to function effectively throughout your workday, perform your usual other activities and still have enough energy left over to handle any extra stresses or emergencies which may arise.</p>
<p>The components of physical fitness are:</p>
<p>* Cardiorespiratory (CR) endurance &#8211; the efficiency with which the body delivers oxygen and nutrients needed for muscular activity and transports waste products from the cells.</p>
<p>* Muscular strength &#8211; the greatest amount of force a muscle or muscle group can exert in a single effort.</p>
<p>* Muscular endurance &#8211; the ability of a muscle or muscle group to perform repeated movements with a sub-maximal force for extended periods of times.</p>
<p>* Flexibility &#8211; the ability to move the joints or any group of joints through an entire, normal range of motion.</p>
<p>* Body composition &#8211; the percentage of body fat a person has in comparison to his or her total body mass.</p>
<p>Improving the first three components of fitness listed above will have a positive impact on body composition and will result in less fat. Excessive body fat detracts from the other fitness components, reduces performance, detracts from appearance, and negatively affects your health.</p>
<p>Factors such as speed, agility, muscle power, eye-hand coordination, and eye-foot coordination are classified as components of &#8220;motor&#8221; fitness. These factors most affect your athletic ability. Appropriate training can improve these factors within the limits of your potential. A sensible weight loss and fitness program seeks to improve or maintain all the components of physical and motor fitness through sound, progressive, mission specific physical training.</p>
<p>Principles of Exercise</p>
<p>Adherence to certain basic exercise principles is important for developing an effective program. The same principles of exercise apply to everyone at all levels of physical training, from the Olympic-caliber athlete to the weekend jogger.</p>
<p>These basic principles of exercise must be followed.</p>
<p>Regularity</p>
<p>To achieve a training effect, you must exercise often. You should exercise each of the first four fitness components at least three times a week. Infrequent exercise can do more harm than good. Regularity is also important in resting, sleeping, and following a sensible diet.</p>
<p>Progression</p>
<p>The intensity (how hard) and/or duration (how long) of exercise must gradually increase to improve the level of fitness.</p>
<p>Balance</p>
<p>To be effective, a program should include activities that address all the fitness components, since overemphasizing any one of them may hurt the others.</p>
<p>Variety</p>
<p>Providing a variety of activities reduces boredom and increases motivation and progress.</p>
<p>Specificity</p>
<p>Training must be geared toward specific goals. For example, people become better runners if their training emphasizes running. Although swimming is great exercise, it does not improve a 2-mile-run time as much as a running program does.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>              Three Steps For a Better Fitness Schedule</p>
<p>
Here we offer 32 years of joint experience condensed into 3 simply steps to improve any fitness schedule and enjoy permanent good health.</p>
<p>Our combined experience in health span&#8217;s over 32 years. During that time all new members to our gyms where taken through an initial interview or assessment which partly involved questions around their fitness program. We looked at what forms of regular exercise they took, plus general questions about food and lifestyle. The findings brought to light some very interesting facts to achieving and staying in good health. When it came to knowledge in these three areas, we discovered that most people already had a good basic knowledge. These findings proved to us conclusively over the years that wellness is more about doing than knowing. Put simply people know what they should be doing, but in their lives found the application very difficult. Today we all have infinitely more information available to us on wellness from a myriad of sources.</p>
<p>So why do we find that still most people are not living in a state of good health?</p>
<p>What we discovered dealing with tens of thousands of people was that the dominant factor to achieving results was the mindset of the people involved. When people are out their in their day to day lives, it&#8217;s sometimes easier to let your busy life schedule take precedence over your fitness schedule. The burger ,chips and fizzy drink take priority over the chicken, salad and water. We often justify these decisions in a variety of ways. We often promise ourselves that we&#8217;ll get back on track with our fitness routine tomorrow or Monday morning when we have got the weekend out of the way. So what is the answer? </p>
<p>How do we stop ourselves from pushing our good health into the future? </p>
<p>The answer is to be our own health coach. A professional coach brings people back on track and that&#8217;s what we need to do for ourselves. The professional coach in any field is always on the look out for new ideas and knowledge which will help their coachee. However what is equally important is how they communicate those ideas and knowledge, it has to be done with emotion, dedication, enthusiasm and a call to action. This is why each step of our &#8220;Fitness Schedule Action Plan&#8221; has a call to action. But equally important is that this knowledge is communicated clearly and emotionally. It&#8217;s this emotion that can really affect results and outcomes. </p>
<p>This is exactly the same when we come to coaching ourselves in terms of wellness and fitness. We must get emotional in our self talk, and wellness has to become one of our core values. We have to elevate the importance of staying in good health in our own minds. Then we can set about effectively using the knowledge we have to coach ourselves. This will help us stick to our fitness schedule, but reaching inside and starting to take charge. To be no longer dependent on encouragement from the instructor at the gym or inspiration from the article that promises sparkling good health in 6 weeks. So this brings us to the next question&#8230;</p>
<p>How do we establish wellness as a core value to positively impact our fitness routine? </p>
<p>Marc and I were both inspired to put good health at the top of our list through events that took place in our lives, as told in our book Strength to Strength, which you can get at Amazon. But if you haven&#8217;t had these life changing experiences, there&#8217;s three steps you can take to improve your fitness schedule:</p>
<p>1. Ask yourself better questions. Don&#8217;t ask &#8220;how am I supposed to fit exercise into my daily routine?&#8221;, but ask yourself &#8220;How will I feel when I&#8217;ve lost my target 6lbs?&#8221;. This subtle change to focusing on the positive aspect of a fitness program will make all the difference.</p>
<p>2. Get emotional. Communicate clearly and emotionally to yourself. Focus on how you&#8217;ll feel if you let yourself down versus how you&#8217;ll feel when you succeed. Get a tear in your eye if you have to but speak to yourself like you mean it. </p>
<p>3. Use your creative imagination through visualization. Napoleon said &#8221; Imagination rules the world&#8221;. Through picturing you can rule your world when it comes to encouraging yourself to take action and apply the step of your fitness schedule. If you cant imagine it, get some pictures from a magazine of what you want to look like and put them where you can see them regularly. Soon they&#8217;ll be in your head where you will be able to visualize yourself in that situation.</p>
<p>These 3 steps can make a difference. You might have the a fitness program already, but by adding these, you&#8217;ll develop a better Fitness Schedule and soon reaping the rewards.</p>
