This exercise is more of a squat variation rather than a lunge, which is why you have the different angle with the back leg. I made the exercise from something we do in martial arts called tiger jumping.
Chrissy,
Thank you for the vids. I am curious as to why the back knee and foot are rotated out? It seems the bottom position (before you jump) is similiar to the bottom position of a lunge, except with the lunge the knee is inline with the body. Why the difference?
If he is using proper form, he will increase his max. strength, so yes, there is benefit to lifting that heavy (but ONLY if his form is good!)
I have a quick question!
There is a man that I see quite freqently @ my gym and he puts the weight as high as it can go. I’ve watched him many times, and he does his exercise about 4 reps..if… So is that really doing anything? or is he doing more harm than good?
Thank you for you videos btw!!
thanks
I’ll put that on my list next time I shoot videos. Range of motion can be slightly more than 90 degrees if your shoulders aren’t stressed by that and you want to stop before the elbows are locked out. Make sure you do NOT do these behind your head!
question Chrissy….I do military presses whats the proper form for military seating press? Range in Motion: I bring the bar down slightly underneath the chin and dont lock out my arms when i push the barbell to the top. Can you do a video tutorial if possible? Thanks in advance.
I have a Smith Machine. I’ll definately add this to my routine. Thanks!
