Abs Pack – Six essential steps:

1. Don’t waste your money on gimmicky exercise machines - you don’t need them!

Everyone wants to have a 6 pack and there are a lot of companies out there who are willing to take money off people who think they can buy their abs.

These people are wasting their money as you don’t need any special exercise equipment to target your abdominal muscles – you can do it from the comfort of your own home.

2. Do cardiovascular exercise - You will never see your 6 pack of abs if they are covered by a layer of fat so you will need to burn this off with cardio. Two or three 30 minute sessions a week will be enough if you keep the intensity up, you should aim to be working at around 80% of your maximum to be effective.

This can be achieved on a bike, running or playing sport, it doesn’t really matter what form the cardio takes so long as the intensity is high enough.

3. Eat regularly - Aim for a small meal every 2 – 3 hours which should ideally include a portion of meat and some complex carbs i.e veg or brown rice. The aim here is to indrease your metabolism.

Remember to try and avoid simple carbs and make sure your last intake of carbohydrates of any type is at least 3 hours before bed.

4. Quality not quantity -  concentrate on form and feeling the muscle work. Each rep should last approximately 5 seconds: 2 seconds up then squeeze at peak contraction then 2 seconds down and repeat. 

5. Choose the right exercises - you only need three to fully develop your abs and they are:

standard and oblique crunches and leg raises.

These can be performed at home or at the gym.

6. Don’t over train – 3 sets of 12 – 25 reps for each exercise is enough if the intensity is kept high.

 The routine only needs to be done once or (at the very most) twice a week. If you already hit the weights regularly your abs should already be fairly well developed.

Remember, you won’t get a six pack overnight but if you stick to these steps you will get there, you just need to keep it up.

These six steps will put you on the right path to achieving a 6 pack of abs. There are many factors involved in achieving ripped abdominal muscles and the more information you have the better your chances of success.

I’ve been training for over 15 years and have tried numerous ways of acheiving a six pack. After a lot of trial and error I have found what i believe to be the perfect formula for getting ripped abdominal muscles.
