no advanced athlete should use a swiss ball for anything. unstable surfaces like bosu, airex pads, and balance disks are only helpful in the rehab setting, but are a waste of time for literally everyone who is healthy and just wanting to improve strength and performance. just use a bench and lift heavier – it activates the same amount of core muscles. and that is supported by research, not Muscle & Fiction Magazine
It can have its place, maybe if you are working out at home with no bench. However I do agree it is overall a croc, only good for people not trying to train for strength and in some cases certain advanced atheletes.
EMG research studies show that doing exercises on a swiss ball does not activate any more core muscles than doing it on a flat bench, meaning it is a WASTE OF TIME.
this dude is either clueless or a liar. not sure which is worse, but he has no facts to back up what he teaches.
looks kinda dangerous unless you are very used to balancing on a ball
I agree…lifting on a ball is good. Especially if you have some kind of back injury. The downside is, you can’t do it with a very heavy weight. But then again, people have different goals.
Depends actually on what your doing, if your referring to bench pressing or dumbbell press then yes.
It is recommended to do this so that you do not pass out or get light headed.
do you hold ur breath when lifting weights up? and exhale at the top?
this is good but primary train basic
lol lets get retarded in the background
lol, he got inhale and exhale wrong…should we listen to anything else.
Hmm I’m not convinced about pressing on the ball at all, people talk about stabilizing muscles and I could see that is probably the only benefit but dumbbell bench press on a normal bench works stabilizers anyway.
You can’t seriously think that you will get stronger doing this than say a 4-6 rep routine on a bench. If you like endurance then this is more for you, if you want strength or size stick to a bench imo.
Lifting on a ball is not worthlesss, it targets more muscle groups, i.e cos you have to balance aswell as do some movement e.g. chest press, this makes a fuller workout. It helps enchance muscle strength, and also helps stabalisers with balance, and tone. It is also an alternate, change it gives you something new, and your body will respond to wat you normally do. which is prolly same crap different day.
this guy thinks he is a damn trainer?!?! LMAO i agree with u dude this crap is waste of time, i just saw 4 of his vid and all of them is a joke!!!!
Wow. You didn’t even catch the concept. The point of the post is simple: Mickey will use SB DB bench/incline as an alternative on a light week, compared to a heavy press, board press, dynamic band, etc. Of course he uses olympic lifting, where do you think your speed and jumping comes from as an athlete?? I never said they train like this video, just making a point that people do utilize these techniques. Get with the program and understand training before you open your mouth.

So the Gators won because they benched light DB’s on a swiss ball? They won because of the talent/skill of the players and direction of the coach. If they actually trained like this video it just means they could’ve been even better/stronger/faster/more powerful if they trained properly (heavy powerlifting/olympic lifting).
I guess Mickey Marotti is an idiot then, and he only works with the Florida Gators strength and conditioning program. I think he knows a little bit more than you do, considering he has 3 MNC rings (2 Florida, 1 ND) and has developed two heisman winners (Tebow and Rocket). Have you devleoped any athletes of that calibur….didn’t think so..
Nice pink ball!!!
mi hermano hace mas peso ke tu ijoputa
Its working your stabilizing muscles, some of the smaller ones. Plus hes just showing it. And doing 20′s are pretty small but lower weights build muscular endurance. And yeah the breathing is done wrong.
How are you going to build chest strength pressing 20lbs DB’s wasting your energy balancing on a ball. Lift heavy if you want to be strong, on a bench. Lifting on a ball is soooooo worthless, only idiots do it.
You hold a breath through the entire rep idiot, which you would know if you had ever lifted heavy. Try doing a heavy rep of any compound exercise while you breath in during the eccentric.
breathing part was done wrong
I think he simply made a verbal mistake when he described proper breathing. If you watch him his is breathing properly.
True Story: One day Mighty Jay Cutler decided to try working out with a Swiss ball, but the needle hanging out of his ass popped it, and he decided to never train with them again
